Norris Edges Out Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored his teammate at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the points lead from Piastri by just one point after his victory in Mexico City two weeks ago, outpaced the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Until that point, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before sprint qualifying due at the evening session.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the championship fight, sitting 36 points Norris, finished in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the only driver to crash, if briefly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the track edges before spinning across the escape zone, and was blessed to avoid just a slight brush of the barrier.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the practice, spinning around through the high-speed Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran ended the session in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were well clear of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than the Australian's time.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
